According to Amazon, the speed of payment through ‘Amazon Pay’ increased in the sale. One in three customers used Amazon Pay UPI as a payment method. This is 20 percent more than last year. A surge in flight bookings and hotel bookings was also seen during the sale.
People also took membership of Amazon Prime and used it. Amazon says that a huge increase was seen in the demand for 5G smartphones worth Rs 10,000. People expressed confidence in the brands of Realme, iQOO and Xiaomi. Big screen TVs from Samsung, Xiaomi and Sony were sold the most. Year-on-year sales of laptops increased by 30 percent and demand for Intel i3, i5 and i7 models remained high.
According to Amazon, among premium products, the smartphone segment saw the highest year-on-year growth. Premium tablets from Apple and Samsung saw demand increase up to 10 times. In home appliances, sales growth of large capacity washing machines and refrigerators stood at 30 percent year-on-year.
70 percent of sales of premium smartphones took place in Tier 2 and below cities. More than 50 percent of TV purchases were made in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. A growth of 25 percent was seen in sales of large appliances in Tier 2 cities.
