Ravindranath Patil, a retired police officer, has accused Supriya Sule, daughter of Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar, and state Congress president Nana Patole of being involved in a fraud related to cryptocurrency. He has said that Supriya had demanded cash in exchange for Bitcoin. However, this matter is almost six years old. The party said that the money received from this scam has been used for campaigning in the assembly elections. However, Supriya Sule has denied any wrongdoing. He has called it a ploy to mislead voters by spreading false information before the elections.
BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi claimed that this has exposed the opposition alliance Maha Vikas Aghadi. He has sought answers from Congress and Supriya on this. Supriya is an MP from Baramati Lok Sabha seat in Maharashtra. Supriya said NDTV Said, “Sudhanshu Trivedi has made allegations and asked me questions and all these allegations are false. I am ready to sit with him on any public platform. I have filed a complaint in cybercrime regarding this. I have nothing to do with the transfer. I am surprised that the election has stooped to this level.”
Patil, the accused in this case, had taken voluntary retirement from police service. The state’s Pune Police had hired him and cyber expert Pankaj Ghode to investigate some cases related to cryptocurrency registered about six years ago. Police had alleged that during the investigation, Patil had transferred some cryptocurrencies to his account. However, Patil told reporters that he had been framed.
