According to the Ministry of Communications, by October 29, 50 thousand 4G sites had been installed. Out of them, 41 thousand sites have become operational. About 5 thousand sites have been installed under the 4G Saturation Project. BSNL wants to install one lakh 4G sites across the country.
The consortium led by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has collaborated in completing the 4G project of BSNL. This work started in May last year and TCS had to provide instruments for 1 lakh 4G towers of BSNL. Tejas Network, Center for Development of Telematics and ITI are also involved in this collaboration.
The special thing is that BSNL’s 4G network has been completely designed, developed and implemented by Indian companies. However, BSNL’s 4G network may be available in the entire country by next year. There is also a claim that the 4G network will be upgraded to 5G within a month of its launch.
The company has also started selling its 5G ready SIM. This SIM was seen at the recently held India Mobile Congress (IMC 2024). Then the company was offering 45 days validity, unlimited calling and 2 GB data daily with SIM for Rs 250.
