We have started 38,300 sites till yesterday.” He also said that “We are going to launch our own 4G network, which will transition to 5G by June 2025. We will be the sixth country in the world to do so.” Government-owned BSNL is implementing 4G technology developed by C-DOT and Indian IT company TCS.
The Union Minister said that India has implemented 5G technology very rapidly with the installation of 4.5 lakh towers in 22 months, thereby providing service to 80 percent of the country’s population. BSNL has planned to install 1 lakh new towers for 4G/5G service, the target is to install 75 thousand towers by the end of this year. In this year’s budget, the central government has given a proper budget for the restart of the government telecom company BSNL, which is important for 5G infrastructure in the country.
