Honda has released another teaser of its first electric scooter in India, showing off its swingarm-mounted motor setup. Let us tell you that the popular Bajaj Chetak and Vida V1 have also used the same setup. Brands currently go with three setups in e-scooters, which include a swingarm-mounted motor, a BLDC hub and a permanent magnetic synchronous setup.
Swingarm mounting is considered space saving and lightweight and does not require a gearbox, thereby reducing mechanical losses. At the same time, this setup is considered easy to maintain due to less moving parts. On the other hand, PMS motor gives high efficiency, due to which the battery lasts for a long time. This setup is capable of delivering high torque even at low RPM. However, it appears that Honda is looking to take a mid-performance approach with its upcoming e-scooter. It is possible that the company may keep it family-centric like Ather Rizta.
The teaser also gives a glimpse of the LED headlamp and seat on the new electric scooter. No official details regarding the specifications have been revealed at the moment, but considering the competition, we expect that the upcoming Honda electric scooter can also get a digital instrument console equipped with Bluetooth connectivity, which will provide features like calling, navigation, music controls etc. Will be equipped.
Apart from this, we also expect it to get a larger battery pack and fast charging. Looking at the company’s electric scooter model, the CUV e, launched for the global market, the Activa Electric is likely to get a range of 100 km, which means it could be equipped with a battery pack of around 3-4 kWh.
