Honda to Launch Activa Electric on 27 November, May Get Charging Port Similar to TVS iQube

The electric version of the popular scooter Activa of Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI), one of the big two-wheeler companies, will be launched on November 27. The company has revealed the features of this electric scooter in some teasers. The Activa Electric may have a charging port like TVS’s electric scooter iQube.

However, the charging port of Activa Electric will have different features. Earlier in a teaser, HMSI had indicated that this electric scooter will have a swappable battery. It may have two swappable battery packs. The company had introduced its Benly e electric scooter at Bharat Mobility Expo. Honda’s Mobile Power Pack interchangeable battery was provided in it. Activa Electric can also have this technology.

Activa E will compete with electric scooters from Ola Electric, TVS Motor and Bajaj Auto. There can be two variants of this electric scooter. Its entry-level variant will have a TFT display and other variants will have a multi-color screen. In the premium variant of Activa E, information like battery charging status, remaining range, speed and ride mode will be available on the display. It will also have functions like turn-by-turn navigation and music controls.

In the teaser given by the company, its range when fully charged has been indicated to be around 104 kilometers. Sport mode can also be given in it in which the throttle can be increased but the range will be reduced. The Activa E will use a swingarm-mounted motor. This electric scooter will have LED headlamp. The price of Activa E can be kept affordable. This will make it easier for HMSI to compete with companies in the electric-two-wheeler market. Japanese automobile company Honda plans to invest $3.4 billion in manufacturing electric motorcycles and mopeds. It also plans to launch 30 new electric two-wheelers by the end of this decade. The company had said that it will invest about $ 700 million by 2025 for the electrification of its motorcycles. After this, about $2.7 billion can be invested by 2030.

Ola Electric holds the first position in the market of electric two-wheelers with more than 30 percent share. The company had wholesaled more than 50,000 units in October. According to vehicle portal data, the company’s retail sales last month were 41,605 units. However, it has faced difficulties in the last few months due to customer complaints of service deficiencies.
