HONOR Pad X8a Nadal Kids Edition is priced at Rs 10,999 for a limited time. However, its MRP is Rs 13,999.
Design
Design is the most important aspect of this tablet. This is what makes it different from other tablets. There would hardly be any tablet in the market whose design is specifically focused on children. There is a soft protective case of sky blue color installed around the tab, which can protect the tab from getting damaged if it falls. The tablet has a green colored handle, making it easy to hold. This handle also works as a time stand while watching videos or studying online.
Honor says that the soft protective case fitted on the Tab is made of food-grade silicone. Baby pacifiers, straws, food containers are also made from this silicone, which means it is safe for children. My 7 year old daughter liked the design of the tab very much. She was able to hold the tab weighing about 495 grams comfortably. He also liked using the handle and had no problem using the tab as a stand.
The texture of the protective case is such that it does not fall out of the hand quickly. However, very small children will not be able to use it on their own. I believe that children under 4 years of age will need parental help to use it.
Honor has also provided a stylus i.e. S-Pen with this tablet. It can perform multiple functions as a touch and fits into the space created behind the tab. The company has kept in mind that the S Pen can be lost by children, so it has been tied to a protective case with a strong thread.
Display
HONOR Pad X8a Nadal Kids Edition has an 11-inch TFT LCD (IPS) display. It has Full HD Plus resolution of 1920×1200 pixels and refresh rate of 90Hz. The display has brightness up to 400 nits. The best thing is that this display is TUV Rhineland certified. This means that it provides great protection from harmful blue light and flicker free view to the eyes.
E-book mode is also provided in it, which will be useful when the child is reading something on the tablet. Like any e-book, newspaper or comics. My initial experience with the display was good. It did not tire my eyes much. Didn’t even feel any prick. The color-contrast balance emerging in the display was also better. The display also has a screen protector, which protects it from scratches.
Processor, Software
HONOR Pad X8a Nadal Kids Edition has octa core Snapdragon 680 4G processor. 6GB RAM and 128GB storage is available. It works on MagicOS 8.0 based on Android 14. I found its performance fine in the first week. My daughter downloaded some games on it, which were running well. Even after opening 7 to 8 browsers in Google Chrome, it was performing well. Due to pollution in Delhi, classes till class 5 have come in online mode. Now I will also test how effective it is during online studies. In the review we will talk about its performance in detail, for which you will have to wait a little more.
Battery, Camera
HONOR Pad X8a Nadal Kids Edition has a 8300mAh battery. This capacity is sufficient from the perspective of a children’s tablet. In initial use, the battery lasts comfortably for a day. During this time, I am using the tab properly. Like- watching videos on it and I am reading online. We will also test the battery of this tab, the results of which will be shared in the review.
But Honor has not provided a charger with this tab. Apart from the tablet, SIM ejector pin and user manual, a Type C cable is also available in the box, which you will have to plug into your phone’s adapter or purchase the adapter of this tab separately.
HONOR’s kids tablet has two cameras. The back side has a 5 megapixel camera with f/2.2 AF aperture, while the front has a 5 megapixel selfie camera with f/2.2 FF aperture. I’m not expecting much from this tab for photography, but I will look into its video call capabilities and how effective the camera is while studying online.
Other Features
Many important features have been provided in HONOR Pad X8a Nadal Kids Edition like- Parental Guidance. With this, parents will be able to decide what the child sees online. Screen time can also be set for the child and apps can be managed. That means, the child will be able to use the tab as much as you want.
It has Google Kids Space pre-installed, with the help of which children can play interactive games. Can gain knowledge. Honor Notes feature is in this tab. Sketches can be made on it with the help of S Pen. Can write like a pencil.
I am liking this tablet after initial use. It is easy to use due to its clean user interface. However, some pre-loaded apps were not needed like Netflix. What is the use of Netflix for small children? My daughter is using this tab more than me. I will also share my experience with you in the review.
