Passengers will have the option to book both reserved and unreserved tickets, buy platform tickets, track seats and trains live and access food. The IRCTC Super app will reportedly eliminate the need for apps like IRCTC Rail Connect, UTS and Rail Madad.
Other media reports say that the app will not only provide ticket booking facility but will also provide many types of travel and tourism services. Super IRCTC Super App will enable interested users to shop for holiday packages, IRCTC tour packages, hotels and more. IRCTC Super app was introduced in September this year. However, it is expected to be rolled out for free for iOS and Android users this month.
It is worth noting that IRCTC will continue to manage reserved ticket booking while maintaining its role in railway ticketing. The new app integrates many functions that were previously available on different platforms, giving passengers a smoother experience. Integration with CRIS is expected to improve service across all features. Apart from this, the app reportedly gives IRCTC an opportunity to increase its revenue by including these services on one platform.
