What is Solar Eclipse
Solar eclipse is a situation when the Moon comes between the Sun and the Earth. Due to this, the image of the Sun is covered behind the Moon for some time, this is called solar eclipse. At the same time, in a lunar eclipse, the Moon comes under the Earth’s shadow just behind it.
The solar eclipse on March 29, 2025 will not be visible in India. Another solar eclipse is going to take place on September 21 next year. That too will not be visible in India. There is a possibility of a good solar eclipse in India on 21 May 2031. It will be an annular solar eclipse, in which about 28.87% of the Sun will not be visible. Time and Date report states that the best view of the eclipse will be visible in the cities of Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
Kochi, Alappuzha, Chalakudy, Kottayam, Tiruvalla will be the major cities from where the spectacular view of the eclipse will be visible.
Solar eclipse should not be viewed with naked eyes. Even using normal sunglasses is not enough for the eclipse. Specially made glasses should be used for the eclipse, which are of ISO 12312-2 international standard. One should not drive while wearing eclipse viewing glasses. This may cause difficulty in driving. Apart from the solar eclipse, two lunar eclipses will also be visible next year.
