A shocking incident has been reported from Ajmer, Rajasthan, in which a 19-year-old youth trapped more than 200 people and duped them of around Rs 42 lakh. The youth is said to be a student of class 11th. It told people about a fake scheme and asked them to invest in this scheme. The victims were assured by the student that they would get huge returns for this investment.
of ndtv Report A 19-year-old man has been arrested in Rajasthan’s Ajmer for defrauding over 200 people of around Rs 42 lakh through a fake investment scheme, police said on Monday. This youth is a student of class 11th and his name is said to be Kashif Mirza. According to the police, it targeted social media users by making fake promises. Yuva promised people that they would get huge profits by investing in this fake scheme.
Police further said that Mirza was an “influencer” and had a large number of followers on Instagram. He told the victims that by investing Rs 99,999 for 13 weeks, they would get Rs 1,39,999.
“Initially, they gave profits to a few investors so that they would be impressed and tell more people about it,” an official told NDTV.
A Hyundai Verna car, a cash counting machine, phone and laptop were recovered from Mirza. Now he has been sent on police remand for two days.
Such frauds have increased in recent times, where people are given fake promises of huge returns in exchange of good jobs or investments and are defrauded of lakhs of rupees.
