Reliance Jio, one of the big telecom companies, has said that with its True 5G network, smartphone battery can last up to 40 percent longer. The company uses a standalone architecture along with other technical features for its 5G services whereby the bandwidth of the spectrum is specified according to the application. This improves the efficiency and battery performance of smartphones.
Bharti Airtel uses Non-Standalone Access (NSA) process for its 5G services. In this, 5G technology is brought on the existing 4G infrastructure. Reliance Jio Uses 3.5 GHz band for urban areas and 700 MHz in rural areas. The company’s President, Kiran‑Thomas, said that the 26 GHz mmWave band has also been reserved for high-capacity applications. This helps Reliance Jio improve smartphone battery life by 20 to 40 percent.
The company’s True 5G network can provide accurate location without relying solely on GPS. The initial public offer (IPO) of Billionaire Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio may also be launched soon. Analysts have put the valuation of this telecom company at more than 100 billion dollars (about Rs 8,41,090 crore). After this, Reliance Industries (RIL) can also list its retail unit in the stock market. Reliance Jio has about 47.9 crore subscribers. Investment banking firm Jefferies had estimated the company’s valuation at around $112 billion (approximately Rs 9,42,021 crore) in July.
About five years ago, Ambani had said that Reliance Jio and Reliance Retail would be listed in the next few years. Ambani, Asia’s richest man, has raised about $25 billion (about Rs 2,10,272 crore) for his telecom, digital and retail businesses in the last few years. Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, KKR and General Atlantic have invested in these units of Reliance. Two sources with knowledge of the company’s plans had recently said that Reliance Jio’s IPO could be launched next year. However, these sources said that no decision has been taken regarding the company valuation.
