Tiago EV was launched two years ago. Tata Motors also plans to launch Harrier EV, Safari EV, Avinya and Sierra EV. The Tiago EV has four variants – XE, XT, XZ+ and XZ+ Lux. It can be purchased in Teal Blue, Daytona Grey, Tropical Mist, Pristine White and Midnight Plum colors. Tiago was a major contributor to Tata Motors’ recovery in the automobile market about eight years ago. It is one of the safest hatchback cars in the country.
The price range of this EV is around Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom) to Rs 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Recently Tata Motors had reduced its prices by Rs 70,000. Its range on a single charge is approximately 315 kilometers. The battery capacity of Tiago EV ranges from 19.2 kWh to 24 kW. It also has the option of automatic transmission. Tata Motors has launched its first showroom exclusively for EVs in Gurugram.
A few months ago, Tata Motors had signed an agreement with Shell to increase the charging infrastructure of EVs. These charging stations will be installed at the fuel stations of British oil and gas company Shell in the country. EV sales have increased rapidly in the last few years. Tata Motors’ EV customers use Tata Power’s EV chargers as well as third-party EV charging networks. Tata Power has more than 8,000 EV charging stations. According to data from the Ministry of Power, there are more than 12,000 EV charging stations in the country. Earlier, the company had tied up with Hindustan Petroleum (HPCL) to set up EV charging stations. Under this, these charging stations will be installed at about 5,000 fuel pumps of Hindustan Petroleum by the end of this year. More than 3,000 EV charging stations have been installed at HPCL’s fuel pumps.
