After this hike in Zomato’s platform fees, users are venting their anger on social media. by a user wrote“#Zomato increased platform fees to ₹10. They are clearly taking advantage of the festive rush. They started this nonsense at ₹2 PO. And now they rake in the cash handling over 20 lakh orders per day. “
Another user said wrote“#Zomato has increased the platform fee by Rs 10 for the festive season. Here’s the justification “You are now addicted so it is our duty to take full advantage of it now. Keep eating and keep pressing the buttons on the app. Our next venture is on health care.” A user writes“Zomato’s rising platform fees faster than Usain Bolt.”
Zomato on Wednesday told customers through a notification in the app that the increased fees helps the platform pay its bills. “This has been increased slightly to maintain services during the festival rush.”
Let us tell you that in the March-quarter shareholders’ letter, Zomato had also cited platform fees as one of the main reasons for improving its margins.
